Annapolis Afterthought

Posted by Patrick Foy on November 27, 2007

Everybody is going through the motions again as part of the ongoing charade known as the Middle East ”peace process”, now in its latest incarnation at the Annapolis conference. At this stage, what it all boils down to is how to get the Palestinians, or rather their leadership, to accept their status as a conquered people, to do it officially and for the record, so that Tel Aviv can feel comfortable, if not fully vindicated. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the Palestinians, both those living under occupation and those in refugee camps outside Palestine, are powerless and in no position to “negotiate” with the Middle East’s regional military superpower--most especially when one recognizes that this regional superpower has the world’s lone surviving “Superpower” in its pocket.

The circumstance of relegating itself to being a de facto client state of Tel Aviv means that Washington is incapable of coming to the aid of the underdog. At the behest of the Israel Lobby, Washington has been kicking this dog down the street and around the corner for decades. At the moment in Gaza, the White House is leading a campaign to starve the dog, in coordination with the EU, which is shamefully going along with it.

Bush Jr. and Dr. Condoleezza Rice thought they wanted “democracy” in the Middle East. What they got was Hamas, which won free elections in 2006, defeating a tired and corrupt Fatah. So now Washington is engaged in starving Hamas out. Meanwhile, G.W., Condi and the Frankenstein monster look-alike Ehud Olmert have latched onto the hapless Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas. What a cast of characters in the final days. For good measure, throw in the unemployed Tony Blair as the “Representative” of the Middle East diplomatic “Quartet” which consists of the EU, UN, U.S. and Russia. We’re talking a farrago here, big time. Layers of diversion and impotence.

For Bush Jr., the Palestinian conflict is an afterthought. To be fair, Iraq, Afghanistan and the “war on terror” have sucked all the oxygen out of the Oval Office. How to make some breathing space to deal with the root cause of the wider conflict? Evidently, with the “legacy thing” a factor, the task has been tossed over to Condi. I’m sure she is going to get all the moral and material support she needs, behind the scenes, from Dick Cheney and Elliott Abrams, don’t you think? You can bet they are interested in democracy, especially in Palestine. Mentally snapping her fingers, Condi breathlessly proclaimed on October 16th during a confidence-building trip to Ramallah and Jerusalem, “Frankly it is time for the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

Can you imagine what such a state might look like at this point, after decades of military occupation, expropriation and bulldozing? Frankly, Dr. Rice, it would look more or less like what it is at the moment, a state of helotry and bantustans for the natives, with Gaza remaining as the largest open air prison in the world. Indeed, the time is now. And if it does not work out, then blame the victims, as always, for not coming “to terms with their condition”. The great Johns Hopkins “neocon” scholar, Dr. Fouad Ajami, has proclaimed that the Arabs “have left the Palestinians to the ruin of their own history.” How convenient. Perfect timing for G.W. and Condi. I’ll let Uri Avnery have the last word.

“The circumstance of relegating itself to being a de facto client state of Tel Aviv means that Washington is incapable of coming to the aid of the underdog.”

What a bunch of cads and cowards they are, our Zionist-servile politicians. They’ve taken what was once a generally noble (if flawed, thanks to Washington’s culture of corruption) superpower, and turned it into a whore, to be used at the beck and call of a coterie of neo-Pharisees.

And some of them have the effrontery to pass themselves off as “Christians.”

I almost liked the old days better, when alien movements like Communism didn’t even bother trying to wrap themselves in the flag. These Judeo-Christian Neocons are probably more dangerous, because they have heretofore been able to successfully pass themselves off as loyal Americans.

Fortunately, the rest of America is slowly figuring out where their true loyalties lie, and starting to tighten the noose on them in response (ie the Ron Paul revolution).

But, like good totalitarians, they are now wielding weapons of their own (ie The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act).

Where will it all end? Either at the gulag…or the guillotine.

Israelis showed their sense of humour by having a peace, excuse me, ANTI peace rally in response to this conference.  It was literally the opposite of a peace rally.  they had SHORT hair and chanted WAR slogans.

Bravo, Patrick, another great post.
This whole display is morally revolting
and unserious. The writer Xymphora
remarked that, given the US’s inability
to stand up to Israel and enforce a
meaningful peace (i.e. the Saudi proposal), historians will look
back at Annapolis as the real end of the
American Empire. What do you think?

Another great Post by Mr. Foy, that captures the growing contempt and rage with which the world has been watching the ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinians at the hands of the Zionists and their U.S. running dogs.
Dan Rather reported an example of this rage and contempt from China: he reported that Chinese officials commenting on 9/11 said “You had it coming a long time for your middle east and foreign policies....”
I beleive that there is hope, the Israeli occupation will end one day, just like aparthied ended in South Africa. Where there is oppression there is resistance, and the greater the oppression the greater the resistance..

I’m positive that anyone who has any interest in the
Palestinian issue can see through the jargon that is
Annapolis. Every concession is asked of the Palestinians
before Israel is to concede to anything.

No one believes on Americans or the Isrealis in the Islamic world. Even the Americans don,t believe but Busch needs as a rescue for his misdoing. There are two hard and mischievous parners in negociation one the jews and others Hindus and both are a threat to wolrd piece. muslims are innocent they believe all the decievers. There will be no results as the Isrealis wants too much. They forget their history. Muslims have helped them to survive but they are the baddest enemy of ;Muslims and Islam.

Wow yet another lame attempt at a Palestinian/Israeli
peace conference. I dont see what the big deal is. How
hard could it be to have peace. Its been made very clear
and simple by the Americans ans Israeli’s. All the
Palestinians need to do in order to obtain peace with
Israel is admit they were wrong.Israel was there first,
it says so in the bible. The Palestinians arent people,
at least not as equal to Israeli’s who are “Gods chosen
people” so everyone needs to kneel at their wonderous
feet.Israel has the right to “exist” where ever they so
choose and the Palestinians can have the table scraps
since they are worthless pathetic dogs.To put it bluntly
all Palestinians need to do is just admit they, like evryone
else on this planet, are not near the equals of the Jews,
and just accept the fact that in gods eyes they are worhtless
according to the Jews, and really who of all of us would
object to that?

A excellent article on the “peace process” in which the elected government of the Palestian people is excluded while the US government and the Israeli overloards starve the people in Gaza with the embargo on food and medicine and tradde.

Bush has been following the same plan in Iraq as the Israelis have been giving tghe the Palestinans for years...sgree to “negociate” only if the other sidde agrees to surrender in advance.

It’s such a laugh that Bush says he’s not going to “interfere”, only “facilitate” the negociations.

This is like all the “peace” negociations in the past between the Israelis and the Palestinans---present non-negociable demands that they know are unacceptable and then use the predicable failure of these “negociations” to blame the Palestinans for being “unwilling to negociate”.

US foreign policy is being made in Israel, and as long as that occurs there will be no “peace” in the Mideast.

“The Spectre of Iran” was proclaimed over and over again by the BBC as the reason why Arab countries - even Syria! - had turned up to Annapolis. Expect a lot more of this gibberish. In the extremely unlikely event that an Iranian nuclear weapon ever comes into being, or is even being sought, then it will be a threat to precisely one state in the world, and that state already has nuclear weapons anyway.

Furthermore, that state now contains so few people to whom even the most deranged Iranian elements might object, and is well on course to contain fewer and fewer such in the coming decades until there are quite possibly none at all by about the middle of this century, that it simply would not be worth Iran’s while to launch a nuclear strike, especially given the number of Muslims, Sephardic Jews, ultra-Orthodox anti-Zionists, peaceniks, and for that matter Holocaust-deniers (let in from Russia under the Law of Return), who would inevitably be killed.

Nuclear weapons capable of reaching America from Iran? Or even of reaching Britain? Or even of reaching France or Germany? Any Iranian desire to attack any of those countries in the first place? Get a grip! Next they’ll be saying that nuclear weapons can reach them from Mesopotamia (whence, again, they would have to have been launched for some unknown reason), can be deployed within 45 minutes, and can be completely undetectable by any means whatever.

The best way to help Israel is by spreading Biblical Christianity to muslim lands and beyond.

You want a settlement?  So I’ll give you a settlement.  Stop bulldozing (with Caterpillar tractors) Palestinian ancestral homes and olive groves; and bulldoze, instead, the “settlements” (paid for by America) of these disgusting Brooklynite ethnic fanatics.  Rip down this hilarious apartheid wall (paid for by Americans--including real Americans), redivide Jerusalem, and get out of the West Bank (stolen by the Israelis after their long-planned sneak attack of 1967.) The Palestinians, for their part, stop the pathetically ineffective occasional Katusha rocket launch, and cease blowing up Long Islanders in Israeli pizza parlors.  You got your settlement!

Brilliant article Mr.Foy, it encapsules
concisely three essential points.
1. The crucifiction of the Palestinians.
2.The insidious and the bestial behaviour of Israelis, and
3.The eternal disgrace of our U.S.A. for having actively promoted 1. and 2.
