Paying for Wolfie’s Nookie
One, two, three, four, Wolfowitz has got to go! Five, six, seven, eight, one more day will be too late. As the wise man said, once a crook and a liar, always a crook and a liar. Wolfowitz conspired with Douglas Feith to fabricate proof that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction aimed at us. After the greatest disaster in the history of American foreign policy took place, Wolfowitz was the first rat to leave the sinking Bush ship. At being named president of the World Bank, he reminded me of that other clown, Robert McNamara, who after the disaster of Vietnam went to exactly the same post. But with a difference: McNamara is a pompous grey suit, but he did not fabricate evidence to suck Uncle Sam into an Indochinese war. JFK and LBJ did that. Wolfowitz has now been caught with his hand in the till--or, rather, up his girfriend’s leg. It is her hand that’s in the till, with his approval. Ms Riza was given an outrageous salary on the orders of Wolfowitz. In other words, our tax dollars are subsidizing Wolfowitz’s love life. And to make it even worse than it is, Wolfie was supposed to stop corruption in a pretty corrupt institution. The White House, in the meantime, has reacted the way it has throughout the fiasco in Iraq. “The president has full confidence in Paul Wolfowitz,” and crap to that effect. Wolfowitz’s actions in Iraq have caused thousands upon thousands of dead and wounded. Instead of being tried for his actions, he was rewarded with one of the best jobs in the world: dishing out our tax money to corrupt African bureaucrats while establishing contacts for his future. Now he’s been cought overpaying his mistress with World Bank moolah. If this man is not fired and tried for corruption, there is absolutely no justice in what has become a ridiculous country.

Wolfowitz is indeed scum. Taki is right. No one should be surprised that he used his position at the World Bank to shower more tax dollars on his concubine, or that the proponents of “Christian morality” in the Bush White House see nothing wrong.

You can rest assured Paul Wolfowitz will not be punished for any of his many crimes during this lifetime (at least barring a political revolution, in which case his Divine retribution is likely to follow all too swiftly after his Earthly one). I was born in Alabama, so I love America, and thus I acutely feel the tragic loss stemming from the fact she no longer exists. I like to think of America as the once-and-future-republic. To paraphrase the vulgar celebrity who serves as the Governor of my adopted state, “She’ll Be Back.” Any other possibility is simply too horrible to contemplate.

No love HERE for Wolfie, either; but apparently some of the facts were, ah, left out of the story--which causes a misapprehension about the actual news.
See the WSJ and/or FoxNews for updates.

The cosmic order is out of whack. Wolfowitz is like a Wile E Coyote who never falls off the cliff.

His girl friend is Libyan, isn’t she? Now we know why he thought the Arab world was ripe for democracy.

Libyan in name and appearance only. Methinks she has something cultural/religious wise in common with Wolfie.

I’ll have to second Lawrence Stich on this one. The spectacle of Wolfowitz tripped up over circumstances in which he was apparently (per WSJ, Fox, etc.) not really at fault, by shady Eurocrats at the World Bank, is akin to a well known gangster being ticketed by a crooked sheriff in cahoots with a crooked justice of the peace for a trumped-up traffic offense. Nothing very admirable on either side!

Add to the Wolf’s resume that he is a coward. While overseeing the descent in to chaos in Baghdad the laptop warrior visited Iraq several times. His demeanor was reported to be arrogant and overbearing until the last trip. When a part of the hotel he was staying in was hit by a rocket he was filmed leaving, visibly cringing and fearful. What a fine example to the men he oversaw and sent to their deaths though his indifference to their courage and sacrifice was such that at a Congressional hearing he had no idea how many had been killed. Guess he is not a detail man. The point is that having experienced a whiff of gunshot, be it at a safe distance, he never returned. The video game was getting too real for his liking.
One of his projects at the World Bank is trying to persuade it to reopen an office in Iraq. They decamped because of the danger. The ever fierce Wolf, however, has declined to scout out the safety there by inspecting any proposed headquarters. Once a coward, always a coward.

What Taki (and later Foy) have written is entirely factually conistent
with what the BBC has said about this whole sordid affair from the
gitgo. I especially relish the BBC consistently identifying
Wolfowitz’s poopsie as his “girlfriend.” How droll!

Anybody who quotes WSJ and Fox “News” is ... well
there’s no polite way to express my utter disdain for
those who believe the Bush propaganda machine on
anything.
