Taki Goes to War
The humidity was in the nineties, and I was sweating profusely. Let’s face it, I always got a bit nervous before the start, but this time I was scared. After all, this was the big one. We were approaching our destination now, and I knew the deadly traps that lay below. Hil looked calm, as did the two pilots flying the chopper. As we banked away from the ocean we flew at tree level, hiding behind the tall palm trees and then, suddenly, the whirling beast put itself down right in front of the dugout where V&C were huddling. The hatch opened and Hil ran out first, ducking the blades and I followed. We ran straight to them. By this time I was soaked but I knew we had them. Hillary shot straight and good, and I wasn’t bad either. Victoria and Charlie never had a chance. We won the Palm Beach mixed golf championship that day, and we’ve never looked back since.

I remember an English newspaper reporting that drama queen Geraldo reportedly had taken fire while covering a story during the Afghan war. The unimpressed English newspaper concluded the article with this line..."No word if Geraldo returned fire.”

I’m no Hil fan, however, fair is fair. I recall some hijinks in the
Golan with a Monsieur Alix: Alix flew back to Paris, embellished our adventures, and he’s been dining out on the story ever since. (Why not?)
Ah bien, c’est la vie.

The closest HRC has gotten to sniper fire is in her bedroom. And she’s the sniper. “Duck Bill, here comes another lamp.”

What is the matter with Hillary anyhow, taking Chelsa to a war zone, while she charges up San Juan Hill?

Taki.
If this is your new magazine I don’t like it. Another web glossy is not what we need. The prolix in pursuit of the unreadable, so doubly seconded by ethnic slurring, the riding of hobby-horses, the flogging of dead ones, and the hobbling of live ones.
A man has to be a radical, Sir, to make a mark. Wishy-washy conservatism is not the order of this day, and ‘independent’, don’t make it so.
Where, the outrage? Where, the fire? Where, the brimstone?

You may not remember me, but I was there, too...it was hell...even the cocktails were warm…
