Takimag Infiltrates the Paul Campaign

Posted by Richard Spencer on January 16, 2008

Well, not exactly, but I am very happy to report that Daniel McCarthy has become the chief writer on the “The Daily Dose,” the Ron Paul campaign’s new official blog. McCarthy has contributed multiple times to this website and was formerly the literary editor at The American Conservative magazine. (Some excerpts of his work can be found here and here).

Most campaign blogs are boring. Republican webmasters usually just cut and paste press releases. The Democrats have sometimes attempted a more dailykos-esque fare, but then this kind of stuff only gets interesting when one of the writers goes off the rocker into angry-leftist zone—John Edward erstwhile official scribe Amanda Marcotte didn’t disappoint.

The Paul campaign has achieved its success by harnessing the pro-liberty and antiwar energies on the Internet—webcasting all events, giving live updates of online donations, and generally encouraging the netroots to be creative. Early on, the campaign took part in just-crazy-enough-to-work events such as a visit to the dorm room of an undergraduate named James for a YouTube interview. And yet for a long time, the campaign has been noticeably deficient in the area of rapid-response and general public relations on its website.

Clearly things are changing. McCarthy has not only been able to reply swiftly to concerns of the grassroots, but has also driven the discussion, writing serious posts on inflation and Paul’s likeness to vintage Reagan. Moving beyond the familiar Left/Right divide, McCarthy has responded to the Washington Post’s criticism of Paul’s message not only by generally demolishing its argument but by reminding the paper that, once upon a time, its editor from 1933-40, Felix Morley, held constitutionalist views quite similar to Paul’s.

A presidential campaign has produced some “official” writing actually worth reading! This is a very pleasant surprise.

The media couldn’t be trying any harder to destroy Ron Paul’s chances.  They can even bring themselves to mention his name.  He comes in ahead of Rudy and Fred and people are talking to Fred Thompson about his chances in South Carolina.  Maybe people in South Carolina will remember how Fred trashed the stars and bars in a PC rant about intolerance and other nonsense.

Everything about the Paul campaign
is new and refreshing.

Something good is happening in America when people on the left like Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz, and others give Ron Paul time on their radio programs. They may not agree with Paul on many economic issues, but they realize that without our civil liberties and mired in “forever war” this nation has no future. Contrast that with the bottom feeders at Fox and the GOP establishment.

Early voting in Illinois… and i just cast my ballot for the good doctor

so I guess we can expect long monologues on european civilization and catholic liturgy from Dr Paul on the stump in Florida.  Old Belgian kings and ...tabasco sauce or whatever in god’s name john ball and sid cundiff and the other maniacs are always heatedly debating

I have read many post that say how much John McCain will be the worst thing that could happen to our country.I agree.
That said, lets get out the truth about J McCain for all to read.
I`m sure all we have to do is threaten to uncover the “POW” papers that show, beyond doubt that John McCain aided the North Vietnamese while in captivity.
The aid John offered, bye the way, caused other pilots and POWS to die and be mistreated by the NVA,all via the information given to the North Vietnamese by John McCain...the hero.
If their is any American that thinks John McCain should not be held responsible for his crimes, please stand up and be counted. All other Americans should do all they can to bring to to public all papers John McCain has hidden, just to get the truth, thats all,the truth.
John McCain should be proud of his conduct while in captivity, the hero that he is...suppose to be,anyway.
I chose to bring this up to you guys because you seem to be strong enough to let this cat out of the bag, unlike other writers I know of.
