The Age of Heros

Posted by Taki Theodoracopulos on June 23, 2008

Just 555 short years ago last month, troops led by Mehmed II broke through the walls of the ancient Christian capital of Constantinople, ending a gallant defence by Constantine Paleologos, the last king of Byzantium. Just five even shorter days ago, a portly barrister and a ten-year-old almost pulled off the greatest cricket upset ever, but like Byzantium, it was not to be. Ironically, I contributed to both gallant but losing causes: In spirit only in Constantinople, by fielding my arse off at the cricket. More about the portly barrister and the ten-year-old later.

As barbarians tend to do, Mehmed rode triumphantly into the city on a white horse. Soon, churches became mosques and Constantinople became Istanbul. This was Islam’s greatest victory ever. For nearly a millennium, Constantinople had been the foremost barrier to Islam’s sustained drive for world conquest. Mehmed did not stop there. He went on to conquer Greece – but not the Ionian islands because the Taki family came from there – Serbia and the Balkans south of the Danube and the Crimean Peninsula. His grandson and great grandson added Mecca and Medina, Iraq, North Africa and parts of Hungary.

Although I hate to admit it, conquest of other people is hardly an Islamic invention. The man we know as Genghis Khan believed it was his divine right to lead the Mongols to world domination. Genghis also loved his job. “Man’s highest joy is victory, to pursue his enemies, to deprive them of their possessions, to make their beloved weep, to ride on their horses, and to rape their wives and daughters.” (Verbatim the speech Zac Goldsmith gave his team just prior of going to bat against us last week).

A descendant of Genghis Kahn, Hulagu, took Baghdad in 1258, executed the caliph and sacked one of the world’s most sophisticated cities at the time. Islamists will be glad to hear that Hulagu’s son, a real son of a bitch, like his father, eventually embraced Islam. For centuries, the world worked on what Nietzsche called the Will to Power. Africa and the Americas were conquered by European Christians. Napoleon got the pope to crown him emperor, Stalin conquered in the name of a totalitarian ideology. But now it seems we Europeans have had enough. We wish to be nice guys, and as everyone knows, nice guys finish last. Genghis Khan’s joy of conquering is a no-no. Political correctness has become the weapon Islamists use against us, and PC was invented by Fifth Columnists amongst us westerners. The other side, needless to say, does not suffer such fools gladly. It cuts their heads off. A Muslim cleric, Yunis-al-Astal, preaches that Rome will become an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety. Yunis might be a bit of an optimist, but we in the West are doing our best to make his wet dreams come true. There were Fifth Columnists within Constantinople when it fell, as there were in the Paris government when Guderian’s tanks wiped the floor with a proud French army which had acquitted itself so well just twenty years previously. The point I am trying to make is that the Fifth Columnists among us in the West are the ones who will facilitate the Islamists in gaining their dream. They are the politicians and civil servants who deny us free speech and have opened Europe’s borders to the hordes without a fight.

The great Enoch Powell’s career was ended by the rottenest Fifth Columnist ever, Ted Heath. Jimmy Goldsmith was attacked non-stop by cowardly hacks for offering Britain a choice – a referendum. The EU simply will not listen to the people, so why are we still in the EU? The good people of Ireland seem to have got the message, however, which means there is always hope. Which was the only thing going for the Hanbury team up against the mighty Goldsmith machine, one which even Genghis Khan would shy away from facing. Let me explain.

The annual Tim Hanbury-Zac Goldsmith cricket match is as far as I’m concerned THE weekend to be in England for. We play in Tim’s field at Wembury House, near Plymouth, in deepest Devon, against Zac’s posse of semi-professionals led by the great Zac himself. Tim Hanbury does not play, so this year, as the greatest underdogs ever, he appointed a portly barrister, Patrick Lawrence, as captain, as brilliant a choice as Heinz Guderian back in May of 1940. The portly barrister not only confused the Goldsmith bullies by constantly switching everyone around and not even making a batting order, he also removed Harry Worcester, a good batsman but as lazy a fielder as anyone can be who is still living, replacing him with Orlando Frazer, as eager to win as he was to defend me against that bum Mohamed Fayed. Then came the portly one’s brilliant stroke. He had a ten-year-old, Henry Lopes, bowl the last three in the Goldsmith batting order. And Henry came through with – believe it or not – a hat trick. We came up 5 runs short but it was a moral victory against a side which could easily beat England. Even worse, the Hanbury household had 22 people staying, 14 of them beautiful, and I mean beautiful girls. How is a man expected to play cricket when he’s up two nights in a row until 6a.m. begging?

But if a weak side like ours, led by a genius portly barrister and a ten-year-old boy can come so close to beating the great Goldsmith cricket machine, why can’t Europe stand up to the Islamist bullies?

This article brought a smile to the face of this dejected Brit.  Bravo.  :)

Ah, Taki, but just 39 years after the fall of Constantinople, Isabella and Ferdinand pushed the Moors off the Iberian peninsula. So the center of gravity of Islam moved east while that of Christendom moved west. Surely a trade worth considering.

The older one gets, the more beautiful they all look.  It’s one of nature’s subtle tortures.

The Muslims will in fact be removed, starting in Italy (where all good things originate) and spread northward, roughly following the path of the Renaissance.  The pernicious influence of women in modern politics and in creating this PC straight-jacket cannot be overstated.  Exceptions aside, pant suits were a disaster.

Excellent observations, with one minor correction; Now the Fifth Column is the Majority Column. People are so brainwashed nowadays that they sincerely believe in all the crap they’re constantly fed. Or, to put it more bluntly;
We’re f*cked.

“King of Byzantium???”

Forgive me, Taki, but Constantine was no mere king. He was the last Roman Emperor.

Taki’s on the money!!  I am sick of the sycophant p.c. politicians. Taki wrote the truth about the past and current destruction of our Western culture. Overnight--in a space of less than ten years--we have muslim conclaves in my city, Cleveland, and Detroit and Buffalo, etc, people that hate us!  Isn’t it a wonderful world.

the idea that islam will take over the west, much less the world, is a myth

Isn’t it spelled ‘heroes’ ?  I don’t know, I could be wrong.

Taki-

How can you possibly say anything against that tragic mourning father, Mohammed al Fayed?  Have you no Christian charity?

If you have a taste for nutball conspiracy theories, try this.  Mr. al Fayed has been braying for over a decade that the death of his son Dodie and his doxy was at the behest of the Duke of Edinburgh because the former Princess of Wales was to marry a Muslim.  In fact the tunnel tragedy was Mr. al Fayed’s way of averting a terrible mortification.

Dodi’s career was that of the quintessential feckless son of a tyrant.  His business efforts had not been crowned with success.  He had been swept off his feet by a ruthless adventuress in the trajectory of an agonizing rebound.
Pater had thought that his son’s dalliance would pay off in holy wedlock, which would avenge him for the perceived injustices and humiliations the British government, personified by the Queen and Consort Royal.  To this end Mr. al Fayed had provided full support and wherewithal, even buying the late Duke of Windsor’s Paris house and having it fettled up regardless as a suitable nest for the wedded lovebirds.

Then Mr. al Fayed twigged that Diana was playing Dodie for a chump.  She was having a lovely time but with no intention of tying the knot.  Dodie and Daddy were being taken for a ride.  The tunnel tragedy was the perfect way to kill two misbegotten birds with one stone.

Please understand that I don’t buy this rubbish for an instant, but it’s at least as plausible as many other current fantasies.

Simon, are you smiling because you saw that you are part of that fifth column?

Taki, why don’t you spell things out and stop beating around the bush, lest you become a windbag like Spencer--what a moron that guy is.

The neocons/Jewish intellectual elite are behind the cultural destruction of America as a European nation. They favor open borders and third world immigration and multiracialism/multiculturalism here in the States while (in an amazing display of massive hypocrisy favor a hyperethnocentric exclusivisely “Jewish” state in Israel. The same folks who brought you Iraq2003 and are praying for war with Iran are the intellectual and political force behind the extinction of European culture and Christianity in the West. It is obvious to everyone who has been paying attention. Fear is what prevents most people from saying it.

Alex,

No European thinks America is protecting them. Europe is a conquered land. It has been subjugated to the same Judaification as America has. What America dictates they do.

Unless the Christian religion reaserts itself in Europe, the continent will become Muslim. The fighting fairies of Amsterdam will not hold back the tide. We need a Ferdinand and Isabella, Charles Martell, Don Juan, Or Jan Sobieski.

That would be the Catholic Church reasserting itself. Saying Christianity could mean any two bit Protestant sect. At least in some minds. Even rabbi Hagee might then be considered, further muddling the thing..

Taki is mistaken when he says that after the fall of Constantinople, Mohamed II went on to conquer Greece. Greece, the Stereà Ellada, was already conquered in 1453. Evia, Kreta and some other territories was Venetian territories at that time. The Venetians fought the Ottomans in Constantinople with the Greeks.  The Byzantine Empire at that time consisted only of the city of Constantinople, inside the great Theodosian walls, the Propondida, out side and the Mystras in the Peloponnese. The Ottomans captured Thessalonica in 1430 and Mohamed II Capital, before the fall of Constantinople, was Andianoupolis. About the Fifth Columnists we have to say that two out of the three Mohamed generals were Greeks, sorry to say that, I’m Greek my self, one of them namely Zaganos and the other, I think, Fokas. Zaganos was the architect of Mohamed’s victory and after that Mohamed, in recognition, gave their names to the Gates of the city, like Zaganos Gate and Fokas Gate. An other fact of the Fifth Columnists is the person, (WHO?) who opened, from inside the city, the Kerkoporta, the Gate from witch the armies of Mohamed II went in, enter Constantinople in the morning Tuesday, May 29 1453 (Julian Calendar). At the end, we don’t know what happens to the last Byzantine emperor Constantine XI of the great city after its fall. He simply vanished!!!

starting in Italy (where all good things originate)Sebastian?, Sorry, but I think that all good things originate in Greece and Greece lend some to Italy for farther use. It is good to call a cat, cat and a table, table Mr. Sebastian.

Daveg:
“Simon, are you smiling because you saw that you are part of that fifth column? “

Yeah, I’m a Jewish neocon plotting the Muslim takeover of Europe.

Stormfront types like you are as much enemies of our civilisation as are the neocons, the cultural Marxists and the Islamists.

Sorry, but Christianity and Catholicism have zero appeal to Europeans. None. So don’t count on that to save Europe.

More dangerous than the Fifth Columnists are the dumb European woman who in a multicultural lunatic frency rush to get themselves impregregnated by Muslims. Some are kidnapped to some place in the sand others stay to become factories for future euro-islamo-fashisti.

Add to that that European men and women (and increasingly Americans, too) don’t seem to be interested in sex or having children (not sure which is less appealing to them). And you have what Pat foresaw years ago.

@Taki:
Thanks for this that also brought a smile to my face, as well. Note:Actually, the Emperor Constantine was the last of the eastern emperors. Technically, the western (or Holy Roman) empire ended in 1806 with
the abdication of the Emperor Franz. My old Roman altar missal still has a wonderful prayer
for the Holy Roman Emperor. I think Belloc was right: “Europe is the Faith.” And once the
the Church tacitly and in practice admitted to being “one among many” instead “Unam, Sanctam,
Apostolicam, et Catholicam"--around the time of Vatican II---then things were sure to go
downhill fast.  That, plus the ravages of WWII and the end of Confessional states and monarchies,
the triumph of revolutionary ideology and in particular of “democratism,” brought with it in
tow the results we are witnessing today: a castrateed and timorous Church, despoiled traditions.
a managerial elite entrenched in power, “democracy” turned into a god-like cudgel to beat
anyone dissenting from the reigning dogma on the head (or jail them) for thought crimes.

Let us pray for a new Saint Louis, a new Saint Stephen, a new Don Juan of Austria, to arise
and rally the remnant…

I thought the body of the last Emperor was identified by his Imperial socks having fallen in the last stand off. Sort of like the Davy Crockett myth Texans spread.

The ultimate Fifth Columnist was Alexius who diverted the Fourth Crusade to Constantinople in an attempt to restore his father to the Imperial throne. Catholic Knights sacked the city, looted tombs, churches, treasuries, raped and turned Byzantium into a shattered wreck. Greek and European mercenaries brought in artillery to finish the job started by the Doge of Venice. Crusaders tore the altar and icon screen of the Church of the Holy Wisdom to peices, and set prostitutes on the Patriarch’s throne.

I guess Pope Innocent III felt he had caught at backward point.

The names of both Constantine XI Palaeologus (called Dragases) and the Megadux Lukas Notaras were employed by Jean Raspail for two of the characters who led the last ditch defense of the West in “The Camp of the Saints.” Raspail also quotes Prince Bibesco: “The fall of Constantinople is a personal tragedy that happened to all of us just last week.”

One explanation always given for why the market falls on a given day is more sellers than buyers.

Barbarians want to own our land more than we want to keep it.  Its people who vote for the major parties (parasites) even when they don’t agree with them.  We have to start voting and supporting those who say what we think and feel instead of being cowards. Cowardice is not the road to safety.

“More dangerous than the Fifth Columnists are the dumb European woman who in a multicultural lunatic frency rush to get themselves impregregnated by Muslims”

do you have any evidence of this stupid and false accusation?

Well, I see a lot of these pasty-faced Muslim female converts trussed up in heavy hijab in my London neighbourhood.  And that’s not counting the ones in full niqab & burka, whose race/ethnicity is rarely discernable.  I first started seeing these white female converts about ten years ago, back then they were rare and quite amusing.  Now I see them almost daily and they’re not so funny.

Sorry but white muslim women from places like albania is hardly “converts”.  But nice try.

I am glad that more and more people are not afraid to state the obvious: that European civilization is the foremost in history and all others, within or without quotation marks, are inferior.

I heard an interview with the US American born white woman that converted to Islam and insisted he drivers license picture be taken with her in the body bag.

I suspect her and a lot of women being put into full burkahs would do a lot toward improving the countryside. Any country that insists on bagging their women must have a lot of really ugly women. A pity the shrill harpies of NOW don’t take the bag. It would free them of the lacivious glances of males who are all rapists.

jerry:
“Sorry but white muslim women from places like albania is hardly “converts”.  But nice try.”

If you think Albanian women look anything like the pasty-faced native women of Sheffield or London, you’re mistaken.  And Albanians don’t wear burkas.

The West will either end in violence or be saved by violence.  There is no middle way.  The other side won’t permit it and can’t understand it.

I thought Taki was talking about the age of gyros. I must be hungry.

@ Jerry:
Not aware that in Europe, Muslims are dating, marrying, and fathering children with European women?

@ Jack Rich

Actually, these women even convert when they are still virgins, and before they meet muslim boyfriends/husbands. Notable characters are dutchSaliha on http://www.marokko.nl

There are even men who become muslims and marry North-African muslim wives, like Abdul-Jabbar van de Ven, an ex-Catholic.

Stupid anti-semites always think its about the Jews.  Please.

Also, when I lived in Paris it was only the Muslim grocers who seemed to want to work on Sundays and I thanked them for it.

Re 1.Byzantium, Constantinople, Will to Power and their contemporary symbolic political connotations, and 2.European Christians, EU, Europe: I can hardly be described as conservative and I like multiculturalism and the Muslims much more than Taki and his readers do, but I think that a campaign I have initiated might be of interest to them as well - see http://www.hagiasophiablog.com

At the end, we don’t know what happens to the last Byzantine emperor Constantine XI of the great city after its fall. He simply vanished!!!

Fr. Fortescue writes that his body was recognized by the eagles on his shoes.

It was the priest then celebrating the Holy Sacrifice in the Hagia Sophia who vanished into the wall and who will return to complete the Sacrifice when the Hagia Sophia is Christian again.

Could you please add your last name, so the PC police aka Sid Cundiff will not issue a fatwa against me for your postings

“@ Jerry:

take your bizzare sexual fetish somewhere else and provide me numbers and statistics before you accuse the majority of women there marrying muslim men (who do not even make up 2% of the population)

You remind me of those KKK guys who decry white women sleeping with black men (despite the fact they overblow how often that happens in real life) but then at night they jerk off to their interracial porn they keep hidden.

I was at a staff seminar at my work in London on Wednesday.
3 men - two south-Asian or Arabic Muslim & me, white non-Muslim.
5 women - two south-Asian or Arabic Muslim; two non-Muslim, one white Muslim convert.

I can assure Jerry that the majority of European women have not converted to Islam.  By my sample, only 1/3 have.

Hey Simon, while your cleaning up your mess with the tissues, why not throw some evidence to back that up instead of made up stories in your wet dreams?

Oh wait, here, let me act like the adult here and do the research myself, you little cuck fetisher:

http://mymixedmarriage.com/?p=70

“Inter-ethnic marriages make up one out of 50 marriages in England and Wales according to the Office for National Statistics.  Parsing the data from the last national census among ethnic groups defined as White, Mixed, Asian, Black, Chinese, or Other.”

in other words 1/50th of all marriages in the UK are “inter-ethnic”.  But inter-ethnic can also mean East Asian, South Asia, Eastern Europe, and even immigrants from what are considered Muslim countries are not all Muslim themselves.  So the actual amount of British women marrying muslims is not even 1/50, it’s closer to 1/350

1/3 huh Simon?  Maybe you should go back to Kindergarden and learn to count.

I guess you can’t take a joke, ‘jerry’.

I couldn’t let today pass without pointing out that it’s the 94th anniversary of one of the epochal events in the history of our civilization - the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.  The evils that came from the wholly unnecessary war that followed that event cannot even be calculated.

“I guess you can’t take a joke, ‘jerry’.”

seeing how as we are talking and typing online and not speaking face to face, you need to be better at sarcasm if that was what you were attempting.

Good column but a few points need clarification:

Hulaghu Khan never became a Muslim (he was a typical Animist Mongol with Buddhist tendencies, his wife was a Nestorian Christian).

And while the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453 was a great tragedy for Christendom, the biggest tragedy and crime was the city’s first sack and fall in 1204 to Latin Christian “crusaders,” egged on by the Doge of Venice. This was a true crime that fatally weakened the Byzantine bulwark against Islam. And Mehmed II not only had greek officers, his cannon maker (cannons which eventually breached the Theodosian land wall) was a Hungarian Christian.

You think white women sleeping with black men is a farce?  You want statistics???  OK.  How about the 34,000 white women who were raped in 2006 by black men?  Is that a good enough statistic for you?
