The Huckabee Horror Continues
Posted by Justin Raimondo on December 12, 2007
I’m looking at the Huckster saying that people who are wealthy and those who just happened to be dirt poor should get the same health care. So, if he’s nominated, will the Republicans change their name to the Republican Communist Party?

i fail to see what the problem with that concept is.

The point of the comment was to show that Huckabee’s comment has more in common with Karl Marx’s ideas than Russel Kirk’s. If he wants the poor to have the same health care as the rich then he advocates more government in our health care. This only limit choices, drives up prices, and diminishes the incentive for people to take care of themselves. If you want to hear more Socialist ideas check out what the “omniscient one” wants to do with the federal role in education.

I agree with Chuck Baldwin’s assessment of Huckabee. He would be Geo. W. Bush on steriods. That guy scares the hell out of me and I don’t mean in a religious sense.

So basically what you’re saying is every other first world country is communist?

@Jon - Travel much? Every “1st” world nation’s rich and upper class use privatized and augmented health care on top of the governmental care. So to summarize, they pay triple and we all pay double so everyone can have a little bit of health care. It’s ridiculous.

huckabee is just compassionate conservatism. we’ve had that for the last 7 years. it means you go from liberal or conservative whenever it is the most politically useful. thanks but no thanks

Appeasement is not the same as compassion. Compassion is not giving everyone what they want regardless of the consequences.
Huckabee is a little fuzz-ball of pity for people who have made mistakes (rapists and murderers) and thinks forgiveness is enough to rehabilitate them.
His concept of social justice and human dignity is screwy. Those two concepts also require that a criminal pay his debt to society. Amnesty and commutations (in Huckabee’s case) are contrary to social justice and human dignity. Their dignity requires them to be held to society’s standards.

Huckabee- proof that America can have an even dumber president than Bush II.

Ah, you can argue about “the poor and the rich should have
the same health care” back and forht, but I wonder what
happens when you get a pathetic case, like a little
child that dies “because his parents could not afford
the medicine” And it turns out to be an adorable child
Then it is not a question of the other fellow being
a closet Marxist, but of you being willing to let childrn
die to satisfy your ideology.
Then it gets ugly real fast.
And cut some slack to Huckabee. As an ordained ministe
he probably read that versicle about “what you have done
to the least of these you have done unto me” and he
draws the conclusion a minister usually draws from it.

Forget Iran. The government need to launch preemptive strikes against Hope, Arkansas. The horrific presidential material it produces is a serious threat to national security.

I wonder what is it that irritates you.
That people who are poor should be able to get medical
care?
Or that it might involve a governmetn program?
In other words, are you against the What? or the How?
Because if it is the how, they it is time to wonder about
a better how.
But if it is the What, then I hope you are not a professed
Christian, because you need to reread the Bible again.

Adriana, there is nothing in the Bible about creating a socialist state. Charity is only charity if it is private. Jesus calls on us as individuals to care for the poor. There is nothing compassionate about giving away other people’s money.

@Granny,
You are arguing the How.
The Bible commands the What, and leaves us to figure out
the How.
You are free to do or not to do anything about it, of
course, but you may be risking your eternal salvation
(Talk about incentives… compared to that the IRS are
pikers)

Health care should not be an issue in a federal campaign. It’s a state issue as determined by the Constitution.

Adriana,
The Bible is clear on the how. We give of ourselves. It involves personal sacrifice, not voting to have government take someone else’s money by force. I don’t see how you get “do nothing” out of what I said.
Thanks for your concern about my eternal salvation, but I’m fine.

I see you agree that you want to give of yourself, and
that’s fine, but there are those who just do not want
to do anything and cloak their indiferecne with the
righteous mantle of fighting against government interference.
After all, Mr. Raimondo has spoken admiringly of Ms.
Ayn Rand, for whom attacking the government was only a
prelude to attacking the Christian religion, and declaring
it perverse for asking us to care for the less fortunate.
In other words, do you admire Mother Theresa and are a bit
ashamed that you cannot fully follow her example?
Or do you call her perverse and anti-life for insisting t
that we should waste our energies in the losers of
society, any society?
This is more important that you think. Scott Richer has
shown how the Straussians, aka neo-cons, are basically
gnostics. Now, I think it is foolisn, after getting in
bed with gnostics and handing them over the conservative
movement we should do the same thing with other bunch
of Christianity haters.
There is a differecne between loving your enemies and
between being an incorrigilbe sucker.
