Why McCain Should Lose

Posted by Jack Hunter on October 14, 2008

The moment John McCain signed off on the Wall Street bailout bill, I knew exactly what I was going to be hearing about from that day forward: William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Barack Obama--not because their relationships are important but because at this point, it’s all the Republicans have got.

Eugene Robinson in the Washington Post said the same thing.

Can any Republican candidate claim with a straight face to represent the party of small government? For that matter, can any Republican candidate plausibly explain what the party is supposed to stand for these days?

It’s pathetic to hear right-wing talk radio blowhards try to associate Barack Obama with “radical” or “socialist” views when a Republican administration is tossing aside “Atlas Shrugged” and speed-reading “Das Kapital.”

The Republican Party said it believed in free and unfettered competition, but it picked winners and losers through a system of crony capitalism. All it takes to make my point is a name: Jack Abramoff.

When Ronald Reagan was president, I had a sense of what ideas and principles his party stood for. When Newt Gingrich and his “Contract With America” brigade took Washington by storm in 1994, I knew what they believed—loopy though it was—and what they hoped to accomplish. I defy anyone to give a coherent explanation of what today’s Republican Party, under George Bush and now John McCain, wants to do except perpetuate itself in power.

When a political party reaches the point of lurching incoherence, the most effective cure is a good, long spell in the wilderness. Americans should help Republicans out by sending them home to get their act together.

“Atlas Shrugged” ?

Does anyone stll read Objectivist porn anymoe?

Timon,

McCain and the Republican party stands for the neocon agenda. It is pretty clear to me. Endless war, profligate spending peppered with cries of disownership and the looting of america by foreign interests. It is Obama that is ambiguous, I don’t know what he stands for.

Excellent!

Clearly, the Republicans deserve to lose- big time. They have ruined this country in every respect and area they’ve gotten involved in.

The Republicans are a bunch of soulless harlots whose one and only concern is to please their johns in the arms, drugs, and banking industries and most importantly the neocons- no matter how much cost, damage, harm, and death it brings to America. There is no other “conservative” principle that guides their behavior or any other reason for them to wake up in the morning. A vote for Republicans based on “principle” just enables the corrupt. And McCain has got to be the best representative of this mindset: the man has no personal interest other than getting America involved in as many wars as soon as possible. That’s it. He knows nothing about anything else, nor cares about anything else. All internal policy will be dictated by some corporate crooks looking to rob America’s last dime.

Nothing could be worse than 4 or 8 more years of these people running the country. Nothing. No one could be worse on economic policy, foreign policy, immigration policy, social policy than McCain. After the financial debacle how can any Republican claim that they stand for free market, capitalism, and are anti-socialists. This is pretty much it. The party and what it stands for is bankrupt and finished.

The proposed TakiMag get together in Baltimore includes a panel discussion on the descent of liberals into madness. All I can assume is it is the liberal radical George Bush and wacko liberal Republicans that are the topic of discussion.

Obama is the left wing of a corrupt ruling class but the last time they were in charge the deficit was being lowered and criminality was small scale.

I fear the Republic is at death’s door or in need of resuscitation. Everyone was afraid of the nanny state snooping into our lives and passing annoying laws but instead we get a surveillance state with militarized police and a standing Army whose role is to attack American citizens. The NSA is building giant data centers to hold our transactions and recordings of our conversations and our email. The government has dossiers on us all and Congress gave Bush carte blanche to violate the Constitution and shred the Bill of Rights.

I am terrified of the Republicans at this point. I am merely deeply concerned about the Democrats.

Has McCain started running ads about Rev. Wright?  It was my understanding that he refused to do so and wouldn’t allowe others to do so.  While he may mention Ayres, Wright is off limits.

Great piece.  You forgot my favorite McCain-Lieberman moment, captured here in it’s full horror.  According to Seutonius, Augustus declined to sacrifice when he visited Jerusalem on account of his piety.  Would that our little Caesar wannabes had that venerable man’s gumption.

I am terrified of the Republicans at this point. I am merely deeply concerned about the Democrats.

They are equally dangerous to the Republic. Because they are virtually identical with the exception of universal health care.
Obama is as much of a Globalist as McCain. Both have no qualms about supporting Georgia or sending troops into Pakistan, etc. Both voted for NCLB. Both support high rates of immigration, etc..  Both are beholden to lobbyists and other special interest groups.

The idea of Palin being one heartbeat away from the oval office makes me ill. The idea of
Obama in charge of our troops makes me ill.

I am concerned about the Left’s dislike of the first and second amendments. The influence of the Left in Europe and Canada and has brought about all kinds of pro- multiculturalism and pro-Muslim
laws. I do not want to live in a country that allows “creeping Sharia” laws and accomodations.

I have reached the point where I will be looking at the races for the House and Senate.  I will probably vote for the candidate with the party that appears to be loosing the Federal races.

“Divide and (hopefully) Conqueor”
as well as “Gridlock is Good” have become my mottos for Election 2008.

Rather, captured here:

Obama and McCain should both lose but we need divided gov’t. Both Palin and Mccain have shown ability to fight entrenched powers . Both Obama and biden haven’t shown any independence at all. Obama was and is a cog in the oldest and most corrupt machine in america. Biden has been a bellhop for all the big banks and corporations of Delaware.

@ CptChaos,

Many people have said for months that Ayres ghost-wrote Obama’s autobio.  It was definitely ghost-written by somebody.  Obama has the extemporaneous wit of a drunken sloth.  Another person you could compare him to is his crony - Kwame Kilpatrick, another failure of Affirmative Action.  That’s if, of course, you rule out Bob Mugabe, Jacob Zuma, or some other West-hating African tin-pot dictator.

Robert Mugabe.

He may or may not be a “tin-pot” dictator, as you wrote, Ryszard, but as to “west-hating”, well, if he is, i think he’s got plenty of reason to be.

Wouldn’t you agree?

I don’t trust a word of what all the western media says about Mugabe.

Not a word.

It is my opinion that western banks(and their puppets in government) have caused the devestation of the Zimbabwean economy precisely because Mugabe was proving to be a genuine independant who wouldn’t do as he was told by the globalist elites.

I find it distressing that while the main stream media has PROVEN itself to be willing propagandists for western corporations/elitist foundations/CIA and MI6, many....nay, MOST people just accept, WITHOUT CRITICAL THOUGHT,the racist, elitist portrayal of Zimbabwe and african “tin pot “ dictators.

Actually you do bring up a decent point, paddy.  The problem is, Mugabe is probably sadistic.  I was in Africa this past summer - in Zambia there were MANY white refugees from Zimbabwe, and they related the horrid violence that was inflicted in his terror campaigns.  BUT, violence on that magnitude is not necessarily uncommon to Africa anyway (Zambia seemed quite safe though).  And the Western media does have a tremendous tendency to demonize those that run counter to the Globalist schemes of our “elites.” And truly, Zimbabwe didn’t go into ultra-meltdown until recently, so you might have a point.

I really hate to be the messenger here, but [North] America’s future looks a lot like it’s history: Native American.  Except this time most of them speak Spanish are are [at least nominal] Catholics.

How right you are! All the more reason to tighten up our immigration policies to favor Mexicans over Muslims.

I’m not saying this is the way it should be, just a fact.  White Nationalists, being the revolutionary liberals they are, will fight it tooth-and-nail, but I beg supposed conservatives to see the writing on the wall.  If you want to save Our Land, it’s best we strengthen the Church, and strengthen Mexico.  The only way to do that is fight what we can call the Modernist Heresy.

Please note, in the above post the last paragraph was from Mr. Hall’s post. I neglected to delete it.
(The middle paragraph is mine.)

Sorry Mr. Hall.

hurray for Captainchaos! As expected, Esmeralda misses the boat, caught in aporias and fantasies about religion.  Anyone who thinks we can “strengthen Mexico” and that those people’s putative Catholicism is an assent has never had the displeasure of living there, as I did for seven years.

We must build with Russia; we must help Europe finds its Greco-Roman soul; we must engage Japan and China - but we must never invest in a those children of a lesser god south of our border.  They are hopeless.

Republican primary voters chose Bob Dole when they could have chosen Pat Buchanan. They chose John McCain when they had a chance at Ron Paul.  The so-called conservative party chooses establishment sanctioned liberal Republicans over genuine conservative patriots.  Why? - because the average Republican voter/ dittohead is heavily influenced by the self-same “liberal” media that he rails against. If the establishment media portrays an individual as beyond the pale, the Republican lemmings go along with it - even if that man is closer in beliefs to their own than the establishment approved candidate.  Along with the new party Ron Paul is calling for, we need a new media.

Funny, I don’t think Pat Buchanan really wanted the Presidency, and neither did Ron Paul.  Buchanan is an agitator philosopher, and I got the sense during his debates that he thought his candidacy was a joke.  He did not take it seriously.

I still have a Ron Paul sticker on my car, but I think he is more the philosopher-king.  And I really worry about the fact that he never stood up for himself, never took charge or put the rude and dismissive moderators in their place.  What kind of negotiator would he be on a world stage?

At crucial junctures--recounts, vote fraud, for instance--Paul backed down. And he has been photographed giving the Masonic hand gesture.

On some level, they all serve corporate interests.

Ron Paul serves corporate interests?  I guess to the extent corporations have an interest in seeing sounder money and saner national policies, but how else, specifically?

No reason to believe Obama wrote his book?  If the name on the cover isn’t enough—which I understand—what reason is there to believe that Ayres wrote his own book, never mind Obama’s?  Trying to assess someone’s general prose from a sample of their academic legal writing is silly.  No connection should be expected, as legal writing classes wring the individuality out of students (though some manage to claim it back, that seldom happens while still in school).

I don’t know if he wrote it or not, but there’s a fair history of authors missing publishers’ deadlines and then writing their own books on a revised schedule, as I’m sure everyone here knows.  Why not Obama?  I’d be curious to know if there’s more to this than I’m seeing, because it would be a big deal if he didn’t write it, in my view, given the emphasis he’s put on his personal story in the campaign.  But, surely, Joe Biden would never agree to run with someone who put their name to the words of another.

To all of you who support “white power”, assuming what you say is true, how do you propose to advance your agenda in practical terms?

It’s no good railing against IQ or blaming everything on blacks or Mexicans, like they love to do on Steve Sailer’s blog. How are you going to elect politicians who support your views? Are you personally going to run for office?

It’s no good to bitch and moan on blogs about how black people are X, and Mexicans are Y. By what means will you enact policy that will further your goals? The Republican party cannot survive on race-based policies (hidden or otherwise) anymore. The good old days of the Southern Strategy will recede.

I haven’t seen a single post on any “conservative” blog that suggests a way forward.

Josey, there was a way forward, and his name was Ron Paul.  The complete and devastating ignorance of Americans on economics and their own constitutional history has shown itself even more glaringly.  They want King Saul, a messiah; but as the Avenger points out, we’ll just have another Clinton sans the cushy economy.

If black people in America were really “black” there might be a differential argument as to race in this country.  Race is an artificial construct:  humanity has always mixed and matched.  However, almost ALL “blacks” in America are of “mulatto” composition.  Much has been made of Obama’s mixture, but he isn’t half as “white” as many bona fide “blacks” in the hood. They are really the melting pot, inheritors of the most diverse gene pool on this planet.

As for “whites,” their “purity” in this country is likewise compromised. So many blackbirds hidden in those family trees!

A lot of their ancestors of color “melted” into the majority mainstream. Go West, young man! (BTW, this is one of the stunning truths of South African history.) In this country, Thomas Jefferson’s “missing” progeny are exemplary, yet only the tip of the iceberg.

The “race thing” is just one glaring aspect of The Big Lie.

Josey,

Thanks for asking.  First, we do not hold that “its all the blacks and latinos fault.” The correct premise is that a flood of unskilled labor has the effect of lowering the standard of living for American citizens.  So they are to blame, indirectly, but it is truly the “elites” who deserve the worst blame, as they deliberately support unfettered immigration as a means of de facto wealth-centralization.

As for creating change, we would ideally like to found a pro-white populist nationalist party coupled with a strong American worker class.  But that does seem unlikely, so we begin on a grassroots level - so did Vladimir Lenin.  Increased industrialization and better education would allow us to cement this process.  Since the “elites” barricade us from the media and academia, we use the internet to get our message across.  If they attempt to silence that, we will consider other measures.

Dawn,

I am distressed that you have fallen for the Big Lie yourself.  There is nothing to suggest that race is an “artificial construct” beyond the sophistry of Gould, Lewontin, and Diamond.  You have to ask yourself: what motivates these guys?  Is it altruism, or something else (I’ll leave the answer to you as I already know it.)

Let me give you an example of why the “race-construct meme” is incorrect.  A guy like Gould says that genetic diversity does not take place between groups but rather within groups.  This is fallacious because his a priori assumption is that there ARE GROUPS TO BEGIN WITH.  No matter how he frames it, he cannot escape that his claim is scientifically dishonest.  For another example, English population samples show an average genetic distance of roughly .2% (small but significant in genetics) from Austro-aborigines.  This difference likely accounts for the difference in appearance, behavior and all else.

I’m not saying there has been no mixing, we all know that isn’t true.  I’m saying that there ARE distinct races within the human species.  You have to ask yourself again: in the face of such evidence, why does academia censor the discussion?

Ryszard,

Why does academia suppress the true history of “race” politics in this country?  For starters, have you ever heard of They Were White and They Were Slaves, by Michael A. Hoffman?

This issue (pardon the pun) is much more complicated than most will ever know. Nay, more complicated than they WANT to know!

Timon,

Obama is the left wing of a corrupt ruling class but the last time they were in charge the deficit was being lowered and criminality was small scale.

I can’t recall how the argument that there were less criminals in the Clinton years was disproved…but it had something to do with the fact that so many criminals were in jail.

Anyone?

Dawn,
I don’t know what black hood you’ve visited recently but mine surely doesn’t include many individuals that are far whiter than Obama. If you actually study and visit these places regularly you would find the further into the hood you get the darker it gets, literally. The majority of mulattos you see are overwhelmingly predominate in the suburbs due to gullible white females being knocked up and then abandoned by black males. You see Dawn, they have dangerously bought into the same line you have. Your race denial is community college 101 and I’d bet dollars to donuts you live and grovel with fellow leftists in white neighborhoods.

Two B.A.s and an M.A. from NYU.  I’ll bet you didn’t graduate from high school.

Dawn,

I’ll say a couple things and then I’m done with this topic.  First, NYU is a notoriously left-wing university filled with Marxist professors.  Your ideas on race echo the left-academia line almost verbatim.  Second, I put forth a logical argument backed with facts why there IS such a thing as race, which was ignored.  We needn’t debate “qualifications” and if you are averse to a dialogue, we don’t have to continue.

The B.A.s were from southern schools, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a progressive school, but hardly full of flaming liberals.  The “Liberal” tag is far overdone and obscures real issues and concerns. I would contend that New York Liberals can be the most narrow-minded people in the world.

I am a Libertarian free-thinker who hates labels.  That includes the phony notion of “race.”

*SIGH*
Once again, the point is skirted.  Race is not a “phony notion” for the nth time.  It exists on a continuum with somewhat porous barriers between race a and race b.  But those barriers are there, established as relatively homogeneous genetic communities - some are more so (Amerindians) some less (Afghans).  Disparate ethnic genetic interests arise from relative isolation and genetic drift.  When new alien genes are introduced into the host community, the distinctive characteristics of the host race are often disrupted.  There is very little credible evidence that race-mixing is beneficial to humankind.  Indeed, the most genetically heterogeneous communities do not show remarkable traits - think Turkey (though they’re getting better), Central Asian countries, Brazil.  Compare this to Ashkenazic Jews or Chinese, who ARE homogeneous but also far more distinguished in intellect and robust in culture.

(switching names from Samuel because someone started using it)

I would have hoped that McCain would have been smart enough to have buried the hatchet for a minute and met with someone from the “paleo” side of the spectrum to get their advice on the bailout first.  Did PJB get a call?  Ron Paul??

Opposing the bailout would have endeared him to the Middle American Radicals voters plus cemented his image as a maverick.

Missed opportunity!

A controversial taxpayer-funded “job centre” opened in Mali this week is just the first step towards promoting “free movement of people in Africa and the EU”.

Brussels economists claim Britain and other EU states will “need” 56 million immigrant workers between them by 2050 to make up for the “demographic decline” due to falling birth rates and rising death rates across Europe.

The report, by the EU statistical agency Eurostat, warns that vast numbers of migrants could be needed to meet the shortfall in two years if Europe is to have a hope of funding the pension and health needs of its growing elderly population.

It states: “Countries with low fertility rates could require a significant number of immigrants over the coming decades if they want to maintain the existing number of people of working age.

“Having sufficient people of working age is vital for the economy and for tax revenue.”

Did you hear that?  Fifty-six million negroes to come into Europe!

These bastards want to or don’t care if you are exterminated.

Wake up, White man.
