The U.S.-Israeli Draft
The most recent proposal from the Project for a New American Century has certainly struck a nerve among Americans—although that shouldn’t make us think it won’t sail through successfully, like the invasion of Iraq. In a recent press release, PNAC called on the U.S. government to institute the military draft, and induct U.S. servicemen and women directly into the Israeli Defense Force.
“We decided it would be easier simply to cut out the middleman,” said William Kristol, chairman of PNAC and editor of The Weekly Standard. “We’re pretty sure that in the next few weeks Bush will finally greenlight our attack on Iran, and we’ve let him know through ‘channels’ that air strikes simply aren’t going to be enough. We want Army divisions in Teheran, Navy carriers all along the Straits of Hormuz, and National Guard units patrolling the length of the Iranian border with Syria. And the Israeli border with Syria. Nothing else will preserve the security of the UnitedstatesandIsrael,” Kristol said, using the new, contracted form of the two political entities which has become common in the news media, particularly in discussions of the Iranian threat.
“The political party that gets on board with our patriotic plan will receive our concerted support. The party which argues for a less proactive policy will pay an electoral price for its extremism,” said Kristol.
Predictably, centrist and progressive Jewish groups denounced the suggestion. Historian Tony Judt called it “outrageous,” while representatives of the Israeli Labor party called for caution, warning that the conscription of American troops under the Israeli flag might empower the most hawkish elements in that country, and provoke anti-Semitism in the U.S. In National Review, editor Rich Lowry condemned these “voices of hesitation and appeasement,” warning that he “smelled some, er, Jewish self-hatred” on the wind.
Writing in the New York Sun, Commentary editor Norman Podhoretz described the plan as “bold, candid, and Churchillian,” and urged President Bush to consider adopting it before “Islamo-fascist appeasers, isolationists, and anti-Semites” could rally their opposition. “These nativists will raise once again the tired old cry of ‘dual loyalty’, impugning our patriotism,” warned Podhoretz.
Christian Right leaders quickly got behind the proposal. Televangelist Pat Robertson described the plan as “the single best way to assure that the blessing of Almighty GOD will descend upon this country,” and offered the warning that “if we reject this opportunity to stand with God’s own people, He will smite us once again—as he smote the sodomites, drunken idolaters and welfare queens of New Orleans.”
All serving military officers approached for comment declined to speak to the press, but several retired brass raised doubts about the plan. Retired General Eric Shineski questioned whether the proposal was “workable.” In response, speaking on Face the Nation this past Sunday, former Bush administration speech writer David Frum described Shineski as “a tired, cashiered old military failure who has ranged himself this time with the likes of David Duke and the Aryan Nation.” Frum announced that he had contracted with Crown Publishing for a book celebrating the “bold new future of our merged military might, which will finally provide an insecure America with the know-how and manpower it needs for the War on Terror.” Frum’s book will be entitled: Chicken Hawk Soup for the Soul.

Didn’t you read Schoeman’s last article, Taki? “Salvation is from the Jews,” so of course we should use the U.S. military to protect them from all potential threats! Taki’s piece is priceless...I must admit that until I got
about half-way through it, I almost believed it. It
certainly sounds like something that the Kristols,
Podhoretzs, Krauthammers, and Ledeens of this world would
have the US do...shh! please don’t give them any ideas!!
By the way, pace Russell Kirk: he was good friends with
the late Alfred Lilienthal, author of THE ZIONIST
CONNECTION, one of the earliest (and most informed)
critiques of American subinfeudation to the Israeli
interests. Once it was legitimate to offer forceful
criticism of America’s relationship with Israel. Now,
any mention, any critique, earns the critic the title
of “anti-semitic” (or perhaps “brown” on this list?).
Even such “mainstream” academics as Walt and Mearsheimer
(whose new book THE ISRAELI LOBBY is soon to hit the
newstands) have been savaged by the likes of Abe Foxman,
the ADL, and others. Paul Findley, Chuck Percy, Pat
Buchanan, Joseph Sobran, and even J. William Fulbright
have felt the weight of such stark intolerance by
“the lobby.” But, just maybe the tide is beginning to
turn, just a bit. It’s good to read Norman Finkelstein (even
if he is a man of the left), Peter Novick, Albert Lindeman,
independently-minded scholars and Jewish academics all; not
to mention the thought-provoking writings of Kevin McDonald
and others in THE OCCIDENTAL QUARTERLY.
In our skeptical age, which questions just about everything--
which can place a Crucifix in a bottle of urine and call
it art--it is entirely appropriate to question the role of
foreign lobbies and influence here in the United States.
At least I’m too old for the draft!!!

“At the present time, a significant challenge comes from the intellectuals and related groups who assert their disgust with the corruption, materialism, and inefficiency of democracy and with the subservience of democratic government to “monopoly capitalism.” The development of an “adversary culture” among intellectuals has affected students, scholars, and the media. Intellectuals are, as Schumpeter put it, “people who wield the power of the spoken and the written word, and one of the touches that distinguish them from other people who do the same is the absence of direct responsibility for practical affairs,"3 In some measure, the advanced industrial societies have spawned a stratum of value-oriented intellectuals who often devote themselves to the derogation of leadership, the challenging of authority, and the unmasking and delegitimation [sic]of established institutions, their behavior contrasting with that of the also increasing numbers of technocratic and policy-oriented intellectuals. In an age of widespread secondary school and university education, the pervasiveness of the mass media, and the displacement of manual labor by clerical and professional employees, this development constitutes a challenge to democratic government which is, potentially at least, as serious as those posed in the past by the aristocratic cliques, fascist movements, and communist parties….
Democratic government does not necessarily function in a self-sustaining or self-correcting equilibrium fashion. It may instead function so as to give rise to forces and tendencies which, if unchecked by some outside agency, will eventually lead to the undermining of democracy.”
And to think we still have people spouting virtues of democracy. Sammy Huntington spelled it all out for Carter and Brezinsky way back when. Hail to the Fuhrer. Seems only the neo-cons got the message.

Some folks can’t read. Or twist something into their own perverted meaning. Taki CLEARLY mentions that there are Jews, and many of them, in the USA and Israel, who deplore the Neocon draft. He CLEARLY mentions Christian Evangelicals and Dispensationalists (and thus non-Jews) who support it. But then, putting words into other people’s mouths are a popular extremist tactic.
Taki is NOT supporting the Brown pogrom. He isn’t Brown at all.

Its amazing isn’t it? As one commenter said, he was wondering “if the piece was real”.
Israel is not the fifty-first state. And while empathetic, and very willing to send some moeny and military aid, Im not willing to send our kids to die in a war they are in. They are not “vital” to us.
Think about it: If an asteroid fell to earth tommorow and nailed Guam, would life here really change?
If an asteroid fell to Earth and utterly destroyed Zimbabwe, but without massive seismeic aftershocks, would life here really change?
If that same rock hit Israel, life here wouldn’t really change either as we really dont trade that much with them, really dont have a mutual security arrangement, they really dont have oil, and we really dont benefit from having as many nations pissed off at us as perpetually are for our support of Israel’s policies. She is the most expensive ally in the history of national relationships. A white elephant if there ever was one.
It simply confounds belief that this administration has named Iran’s republican guard a “terrorist organization” (what in the hell have they done?), and is obviously wanting to use it as a subtext for some sort of military strike. Its almost unbelievable that this administration got elected. Its as if a “Manchurian Candidate” has won our executive branch and we are beholden to it for 8 whole years with no good alternative.

2009 the Neocons will be gone. The Evangelicals will go back into inner exile as they did after the Scopes Trial. TThe Cultural Marxists will be in power. The Cultural Marxist takeover will have a silver lining: The de facto Nazis of American will not be able to launch its already planned pogrom, and we’ll be spared the shameful sight of burning synagogues a la the Reichskristalnacht. Of course the Cultural Marxists have there own version of this: “reparations”, the assault weapons ban, and Waco to the nth degree. I told ya so.

The “Neocons” ARE the “Cultural Marxists”!
What you are describing here, “Cassandra”, is the split of the
“Neocons” from the “Christian-Conservative” wing of the Republican
Party, something that’s been a long time coming.
The future looks a lot like recent history, with the
Republican Party being controlled by it’s roots:
quasi-irreligious Big Government WASPs and their Big
Government “ethnic” “hangers-on”, such as Rudolph Giuliani.
Remember, LaGuardia was a not-so-devout Anglican Republican,
a “Fusion” candidate, just like Giuliani.
The Democrats will be controlled by more “traditional”
“ethnics”, such as America’s Blacks, “social justice
Catholics”, labour unions, and protectionist-minded
businessmen, as well as militarists out in search of monsters
to fight.
In the end, the two groups that are “left behind” are
the “Evangelicals” and the old-school Jeffersonian Democrats.

Someone else elsewhere has said that we ought to ask those eager to draft and itching to spill blood these questions?
1. Got kids? If not, let those with kids decide.
2. If yes, are they in the US army or in the army of the countries which we are to fight for? Or are your kids in Ivy League universities and Bob Jones?
3. If the latter, then just whose child should do the bleeding and dying.?
Nationalist of all sorts disgust me, especially those who would have the US promotes another country’s nationalist and irredentist aspirations. I’ve said it before: I’m for Washington’s foreign policy—GEORGE Washington’s. I’m for his Jewish policy, as stated in his address to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, RI, 18 August 1790. I’m also for his policy on the militia, civil rights, voting rights, the slave trade, and Abolition. The Neocons, the Reds, and the Browns, don’t want these policies of Washington known.

More and more Americans are waking up to the Zionist element that has occupied our government.
I was recently talking to a good buddy, a colonel in the Army, who used to be a major Bush supporter, but has seen the writing on the wall (starting with immigration, and now with Iraq). He said that more and more officers are starting to wake up and are realizing that they are fighting a war that is not at all in the American interest and was started by foreign elements in our government.
Hopefully something will be done before it is too late.
I say we take Zionism to its logical element and permanently deport Pearl, Feith, Frum, Kristol and the rest of them to Israel, and if they ever set foot on American soil again we’ll charge them with treason.

The National Socialist party was a middle class party. In the early stages it tried to recruit the true blue collar but it lost in elections. M.Nucci is right, it is only in the U.S. that war is popular among Christians. How sad to see the level of corruption the Christ’s Teachings has reached in this Land of the Free.
I am not surprised by Evangelicals. They are no religion at all when lead by characters like Robertson ( who ‘talks’ to God every Thursday and preaches murder) or other degenerate types.
Catholics are more difficult to accept, although I admit I haven’t heard their Supreme Pontefice condemning the Wars we are in. An energetic call for Peace by Benedict XVI, would, I am sure, make Bush think twice before launching us into another catastrophe.

Robert Welch lives on indeed in “Clone”.
If “Clone” isn’t an impostor, then he’s of the same mental sort as those in the late 50s who told us that that Dr. Milton Eisenhower, his brother, and the PTA were Communists. This tactic in fact backfired, awarding Communists public sympathy and respectability which they hardly deserved.
Aware of this tactic’s unintentional result, “Clone” is likely himself a Neocon, playing the role of an impostor, who with intentional fraud (1) slyly equates Real Conservatives with the Browns and (2)makes by absurd slur the Browns look utterly puerile and risible. The result will be that the Neocons themselves will be seen as astute and respectable, and, like the old American Communist Party and the New Left, get lots of recruits.
Let’s take two pages from Melville and call “Clone” Francis X. Goodman; yourselves, don’t be Captain Delano.

Mr. Peter RV, both Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI have spoken out against the war in Iraq. In fact, Justin Raimondo, who runs the antiwar.com website and frequently contributes to the blogs of this website, nominated John Paul II for man of the year because of his opposition to the war. Unsurprisingly, neither Bush nor American Catholics have paid attention to the Popes. The disreputable Catholic neo-con Michael Novak, whom John Paul II refused even to see, recently dismissed Pope Benedict as “the spokesman of the European left” because of the Pope’s negative comments about the Iraq war. Most American Catholics ignore Church teaching and Papal statements whenever it suits them to do so and the same is true of non-Catholics like Bush.

Indeed, the Popes have both denounced that senseless

Peter RV can be forgiven however for not having heard the Pope’s numerous
condemnations of the current war. In our current “mainstream” press it
gets little or no coverage. I am reprinting this from an articel by
Jean Conte in Culture Wars about the plight of Christians in Palestine and
Iraq.
There are 800,000 Christians in Iraq who are being targeted now because it
is believed that they are on the side of the invaders. Who can fault them in
this belief when the sacred image of the cross is adorned with military
symbols or draped in the flag?
I am not sure that this persecution of the Iraqi christians, some of the most
ancient orders of the Church, and descendants of Jesus’ original followers, was
not one of the original intentions of the architects of this conflict.
I am sure that if not actually planned it is at least seen as a
happy coincidence that the descendants of the original apostles are being
wiped from the face of the earth.

Just to echo the remarks of “northumbria” above - Taki may have made a few geographical errors, but then again, maybe he meant to suggest that the likes of Kristol might not even realize that Syria has no border with Iran and that the Golan Heights (Israel/Syria border) is locked down by UN troops and has had maybe a handful of incidents in over 30 years (see the excellent Israeli film “The Syrian Bride” to get an idea.)
As for the IRAQI border with Syria, we don’t need a draft to lock it down - with less than 10% of current US manpower in Iraq we could have a virtual human net. But the neocons don’t care about facts - Joe Lieberman wants the US to blacklist Air France, British Airways, and Alitalia because they fly to Damascus (is he aware they also fly to Tehran?)

The best part of this article is the implicit criticism of Ron Unz, who now publishes the American Conservative. Unz is like Chuck Hagel: a liberal globalist. He may be critical of the implementation of the war in Iraq, but he agrees with the neocons on most other issues (pro-immigration, pro-political correctness, thinks the U.S. should be a proposition nation, et al.). Unz was vehemently opposed to Proposition 187 in California, and it is only reasonable that under his stewardship the American Conservative will become more of a liberal, globalist rag.

No prizes for guessing what Ron Unz’s ethnic background is.

Mr. Nucci, it is unlikely that there are anywhere close to 800,000 Iraqi Christians in Iraq now. That was the number at the time of the invasion by the US but most estimates are that anywhere from half to two thirds have since fled the country. Most of these refugees have gone to Syria, which is the most Christian friendly country of the Middle East. Christians are permitted complete freedom of religion there including the freedom to proselytize. This is largely due to the fact that the ruling Baathists are dominated by Alawites, a heretical Moslem sect often referred to by other Moslems as “little Christians” because of their honoring some Christian saints and celebrating some Christian feasts. Unsurprisingly, the Syrian regime has been targeted for destruction by the US and Israel, who (according to the Syrians) are financing Al Qaeda related terrorist groups to undermine the Baathist regime.

Bede, when did Mr. Unz take over publication of the American Conservative? I’ve visited the on-line edition and it doesn’t strike me as any different than what it was before. I haven’t heard of Unz in years but I recall him as somewhat of a hard to classify maverick. He campaigned successfully for a proposition in California to compel public school instruction in English - a campaign that led to him being demonized by the California liberals, especially the educrats. I don’t think he should be condemned in advance for taking the AC in a liberal globalist direction when there is as yet no evidence of that.

Kirt, we are in total agreement. You are correct the number was 800,000
at the time of the invasion and these individuals have been forced to
abandon some of the oldest churches in the world and take up residence in
other countries of the middle east. That they are welcomed in Syria is
indeed a good thing, although now the targets of the war on terror will
shift to Syria. Harboring christians being obviously a determinate of
a terrorist state. For all Bush’s talk of being a christian himself he
has not offered a bit of protection to the Iraqi Christians. It is truly
ironic that the neo-cons while paying lip service to Christianity and
Christian values, are strenuously working to destroy it in the middle east.
We now know why Sadaam was such a threat. It wasn’t that he was harboring
weapons of mass destruction or sponsoring terrorism. He was doing something
far worse in the minds of the neo-cons. He was harboring the descendants
of the original followers of Jesus.
Of course this purging of Christians started many years earlier with the
State of Israeal confiscating Christian homes as well as Arab. At that time
Bethlehem,the birthplace of Christ,was 80% Christian.
Bethlehem is currently under 30% Christian.
I just hope that this war on radical Islam is over now.

M. Nucci, I assume you meant to say “State of Israel confiscating Christian homes as well as Muslim” and not “State of Israel confiscating Christian homes as well as Arab,” because of course the inhabitants were Arab by ethnicity (caveat for Armenians and other small populations of non-Arabs).
As for Syria absorbing Iraqi refugees, Christian or otherwise, the number is about 1.5 million. Syria’s population is under 20 million. This is equivalent to the US absorbing an additional 22 million or so Mexicans over a four year period. Yet the fact-phobic neocons would have us believe that Syria is the source of Iraq’s woes.

I marvel not one of the commentaters has mentioned Swift, for surely this essay is every bit as good as “A Modest Proposal” which also produced outrage in so many readers before they tumbled to the satirical intent.
It would take a Greek to match an Irishman.

I’m sure the neocons would have no problem boiling a baby or two if it fit their agenda.

Actually, the Israeli state is using American soldiers for its own interests.

Nothing surprises me. Before anyone here makes a judgement then they should question the issue and make a decision on whether the statement may be true of not. Does the Jewish leadership have an influence on the US? That is obvious. They stand and influence everything from your Hollywood movie and Porn industry to your Capitalistic system (Banking,Financial institutions) of greed to invasions of other nations (Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iran) with the support and generous funding of the US.

Should I feel stupid in that I thought this was real? Not much would surprise me these days. Not even Osama being caught in a hospital toilet performing a comaphilic (did I just make up a word?) act upon Ariel Sharon.

Rex,
Then you shouldn’t be surprised to find out (as I’m sure will
be revealed) that Bushy and Osama were not only business
partners, but also best buddies. That they had whores
together. That Osama has been to the Crawford, Texas ranch.
That he and Bushy have caught small-mouthed bass together.
That they’ve gotten drunk and sloppy with each other. And
that Laura Bush came thisclose to marrying Osama instead of
Bushy. We will see all this information come to pass, I bet.
Osama, of course, being a Jewish actor currently living in LA.

I guess I’m a little late to this party, but if anyone should read this response, I would like to say:
What reads as a spoof, has in fact already happened. America’s soldiers may still wear the red white and blue in parody, but the fact is they are sent off as mercenaries to kill and die in Israel’s wars under Israeli orders.
The ones who die should be sent back draped in the star of David, or buried in Israel with military honors.
“Here lies an American mercenary
Died for Israel”
