Instead of a foreign policy of “walk softly and carry a big stick” we have the “Power of Pride” bumper stickers. We destroy weak defenseless countries and call our armies heroic, yet our soldiers are lauded for their deep feelings and constantly depicted as men and women (no distinction) distraught and crying for fallen comrades (not much of that at Gettysburg or Stalingrad).
