Message: Entry: The Addams Family Chapel Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/the_addams_family_chapel#10985 Post contents: @John Ball MY opinion is that Perpetual Virginity would only be possible if Our Lady were conceived without sin, ie the Immaculate Conception. If normal male-female intercourse is necessary to produce a child, and if normal vaginal birth is necessary to deliver that child, and if Our Lady is a virgin before, during, and after the Nativity, then it is only logical to conclude that she was without sin, given that the loss of virginity, ie pain during childbirth, is an indicator of Original Sin. In short, the doctrine of Perpetual Virginity is the reason for the dogma of the Imaculate Conception. It would only be logical if the Church were to declare the doctrine of Our Lady's Perpetual Virginity dogma. Also, the doctrine of Our Lady's Perpetual Virginity can be found in the Protoevangelium of James, written sometime in the early 2nd century. Sent at: 2008 09 07
