He's 72 years old and this is a one-shot deal. I will concede, however, that continuing his run as independent, assuming he fails to get the GOP nomination, is a distinct possibility despite Dr. Paul's regular dismissals of the idea. Obviously, his focus right now is to win the nomination so he doesn't want to discuss a "Plan B", but I'm convinced that it would be very difficult for him to let down his legions of devoted supporters by refusing to continue his candidacy if that doesn't happen.
