I believe that someday neoconservatism will be understood as the latest manifestation of a long history. As one poster put it, the State of Israel was formed to provide safe haven for Jews everywhere - and where, presumably, Jews would demonstrate the capacity to live peacably with their neighbors. It has not exactly turned out that way, and perhaps neoconservatism is the result of a disillusioned Zionism - another in a long series of disillusionments.
