Elsewhere in the book I discuss the ACTUAL, documented involvement of Masonic lodges in assassinating the saintly president of Ecuador, Garcia Moreno, and in persecuting the Church in Mexico. However, on the Traditionalist Catholic Right, where I spent many years, there is an immense temptation toward lazy dismissal of opposing ideas, and fervid conspiracy theories--frequently including elaborate attempts to "prove" that the Church as a whole has been infiltrated and taken over AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS by secret cabals of excommunicated heretics. This leads many right out of communion with the Church, and still more to become ineffectual, uncharitable, and often unhygienic. Sent at: 2008 11 21
