Dr. Gottfried, I think you may be right: I suspect Kirk may not have seen himself fully in my portrayal of him, but I like to think that in my emphasis on the imagination and his historical writing he would see the worth of my approach. Mr. Purcell, I see your point, which is something I tried to make in the book. RK was not postmodern in Bell's sense fully, or in the crits.
