Here I put up a ringing endorsement of a very controversial paleo Website, registering along the way--in mild terms--the fact that I did not "endorse" the views of three of the writers. I didn't attack them, label them, write to their employers and try to have them fired... And yet a host of commenters have taken after me as if I'd pulled a David Frum. In other words, if one doesn't endorse every jot and tittle of the most "out-there" positions of the most controversial men in America, one is a coward and a traitor to the movement. Yeah, that's a great recruitment strategy. Traditional conservatism is favorable to religion, but it doesn't CONSTITUTE a religion, with canons of doctrine that must be accepted or rejected, on divine authority.
