And Ron Paul may have been serious in suggesting letters of marque. Well, half serious. As for Transylvania being part of Hungary, Vlad's choice was between submitting to the King of Hungary or the Sultan of Constantinople, where, if I am not mistaken (somebody help me), he had been tortured as a hostage.
