Entry: Securing the Border Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/securing_the_border#15066 Post contents: To me the most interesting aspect of this story is the fact that up until now the blockade of Gaza has been solely blamed on Israel although it is obvious that the Egyptian government was equally complicit. The Hamas government of Gaza probably figured that rank and file Egyptians, including in the security forces, would be sympathetic to breaking the blockade on that border, while if the same thing had been tried on the Israeli side there would have been a massacre. I commend the Gazans for their initiative and the Egyptians for their charity. Sent at: 2008 07 20
