It was Lippmann who so clearly saw the liberalization and secularization of evangelicals as they gave up the Gospel for the sake of becoming relevant. Lippmann recognized and respected the lone orthodox voice in the wilderness of J. Gresham Machen. Today, the Goldberg's and Kristols can also count on the evangelicals as well, who have deified the American Republican Party/Conservative self in place of the Gospel, and thus are able to support the nuking of Iran (or anywhere else just son long as the Commander in Chief is a Christian) as being the Lord's work.
