Entry: Inventing Islam Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/inventing_islam#15536 Post contents: I was taught in Catholic high school that dissecting cadavers as was necessary to create the first comprehensive books on anatomy was forbidden by the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages, to protect the culture of life, and that the dissections that were necessary to make these tomes were done in secret. This may explain why the Catholic monastic orders produced more than a few scientists in various fields, but no, or next to no, physicians. Sent at: 2008 12 02
