I would like to make a parallel between the Civil Rights movement and the Right to Life movement. Both sought worthwhile goals, and both gave rise to unwelcome side effects. You listed the side effects of the Civil Rights movement. How about the Right to Life movement? It was used to elevate to power the current cabal of warmongers and Empire builders who got us bogged down in Iraq, and to put our economy in hock to the Chinese. At least the Civil Rights people took down Jim Crow. What has the Right to Life movement to show as an accomplishment in getting rid of abortion? Just the willingness to be the eternal dupes of the Republican Party to help advance ends which have nothing to do with the evil they denounce, or which might be counterproductive. Sent at: 2009 01 08
