Message: Entry: Joining the Revolution--An Endorsement of Ron Paul Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/joining_the_revolution_an_endorsement_of_ron_paul#16271 Post contents: Ron Paul on Wolf Blitzer as quoted by Alexander Cockburn: "I attack two wars that blacks are suffering from. One, the war overseas. In all wars minorities suffer the most. So they join me in this position I have against the war in Iraq. And what about the war on drugs? What other candidate will stand up and say I will pardon all blacks, all whites, everybody who were convicted for non-violent drug acts and drug crimes. And this is where the real discrimination is: if you want to look for discrimination, it's the judicial system." This is radical stuff. Ron Paul seems to get the fact that he appeals to anti-authoritarians from across the ideological divide. Surely he must realize that he cannot win with the support of a Paleo-Whatever GOP remnant alone. The strategy of running as a contender for the Republican nomination has run its course, its too self limiting. He is losing the votes of the Constitution Party, the Libertarian Party, and a significant number of Green and independently minded Democrats as well. This could be the first true realignment since 1932. Time to cut the cord, and go Independent. Sent at: 2009 01 08
