Message: Entry: A March to Nowhere Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/a_march_to_nowhere#16980 Post contents: I am with Mr. Raimondo on some parts, less so others. An alternative convention inviting all sorts of groups to come and write platforms, identify competitive races for folks running under and party, a movement both shadow Republican, and Parliamentarian consensus, might well work. Marches, mass gatherings have accomplished nothing since the mistakes of the government's response to the Bonus Army which did more to topple Hoover than any other single event. These mistakes were the attempt to paint the Bonus Army (World War One veterans) as Commie Revolutionaries was utterly false, and there after, any threat to the regime, in DC or fly-over country, calls for cash to the Phelps/World Church of the Creator etc types as well as the Commies. Where I am more cautious that Raimondo, though I agree with his general Rothbardian goal of throwing up road blocks to the regime as the right goal tactically, particularly if Obama is the nominee, is that Dr. Paul is more of the Birch tradition of focusing on the Congress and the potential for a 20-30 anti-Imperial votes that could yet bring slow-down or stop the machine long enough for mid-terms.
