Message: Entry: A March to Nowhere Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/a_march_to_nowhere#17031 Post contents: I agree this march on Washington, DC idea isn't too hot, but a conference of Paulian activists and intellectuals (such as the above) sounds very promising--a no brainer. I have to disagree though with Mr. Raimondo's call for Dr. Paul to change his mind and run third party. The die is already cast, and to change direction at this point would cause more harm than good. Furthermore, there is a compelling logic to Dr. Paul fighting the peace and liberty battle from within one of the two major parties that control our destiny. Mr. Raimondo's mentor, Murray Rothbard, and himself decided themselves to fight the battle for peace and liberty within during the 1990's when they joined the GOP and backed Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign. In my view and at least a contingent of the LewRockwell.com denizens, the focus should be on drafting former Congressman Bob Barr to carry the freedom movement torch as a Libertarian or Libertarian-Constitution Party presidential candidate. Congressman Barr might even be a stronger candidate than Dr. Paul this election cycle given Congressman Barr's excellent conservative credentials (earned during the Clinton-Monica years) and the enormous discontent with McCain among conservatives.
