The only element I personally would like him to have included would be a reference to 'Ozymandias' - Percy Bysshe Shelley's inestimable comment on the inevitability of nemesis following hubris: 'My Name is Ozymandias King of kings look on my works ye mighty and despair' The 'traveller in an Antique Land' may well have been traversing Mesopotamia [The land between between two rivers]- or modern day Iraq - while the concluding desolation of the last few lines 'Nothing beside remains. Around the base of that colossal wreck the lone and level sands stretch far away' well pressages the outcome and the end game for the insane delusions of US foreign policy. It is further noteworthy that throughout history the end of empire tends always to be immediately preceeded by severe economic pressure brought about by grandiose overstretch - combined in the last throes with the feverish sabre rattling of terminal decline and ultimate collapse.
