The problem is that Jonah Goldberg, like those on the Left that he is supposedly attacking, does not really undertand historical fascism, and uses it as a term of opprobrium, just like the left does. But over fifty years of faulty ideological application by the Left has left the term neutered of meaning. Just about anyone, or anything, that is disagreeable is now or can now be termed "fascist."
