Message: Entry: WFB--A Leader Who Lost His Way Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/wfb_a_leader_who_lost_his_way#18898 Post contents: I remember drinking plum brandy with Bill in Des Moines back in ’78. He was a terrific raconteur and could hold forth for hours at a time, despite having no particular knowledge or insight into a given subject. I also recall that he was a very fastidious dresser; even for the most casual of outings he would always present himself immaculately in his trademark two-piece, crimpolene, powder blue ensemble. He did hate pigeons with a vengeance though – I think it might have been related to a nasty incident in childhood. I recall him pelting peanuts at a flock in Washington Square early one morning. We shan’t see his like again. God bless you Bill. Sent at: 2008 11 23
