Message: Entry: Bush & Cheney: It's Time to Resign Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/bush_cheney_its_time_to_resign#1944 Post contents: Dear Mr. Foy: I see and understand your point, and do not disagree. If I got you right, you’re saying that you never really suggested that an executive resignation would actually happen, just that, based on Libby’s conviction alone, in a perfect world it should. Point taken -- and a good point it is. As for whether the state of the country is the “fault “of the American public, I note your and Mr. Meng position that it’s not, but am not sure I’m ready to concede the point. I’ve often wondered if the public education system in the U.S. is not the failure it’s made out to be. Maybe its mission is just confused. Perhaps, instead of having the goal of teaching children reading, writing, math, science and history, the real goal is to churn out mindless, unquestioning, socialists conditioned to believe and do what they’re told and be content in ignorance. If this were the case, the public education system would be a smashing success and the American public, after decades of this endeavor, would look a lot like…well, like it does now. And, if such were the case, would it be the fault of the American public, or just that of the mission’s designers and perpetrators? My guess is that people have a responsibility to look out for themselves, and as such, bear fault for their lot. We agree that we got the government we deserve; for us to deserve it, it must be our fault. I was recently in Panama City, Panama and upon my return remarked to my father-in-law how big the city was and how many skyscrapers there were (including one 104 stories), to that he explained that the economy of Panama had picked up since the U.S. took out Noriega and the drug trade! Apparently, this man, who is retired Air Force and a school teacher would by most standards be considered a fairly smart guy, believes this ignorant nonsense. Is that his fault? It almost seems like the entire American culture is based on willful ignorance, the Seven Deadly Sins, celebrity worship, victimhood and hypocrisy. I think the America we paleos know and love is in fact lost forever and only lives now in our memories and some Norman Rockwell paintings. Sent at: 2008 07 24
