What would the world would be like with the Vatican in the power of the Nazi Empire? Would a victorious Hitler have respected the Lateran treaty (given his penchant for respecting treaties?). Would a John Paul II have been possible in such a Europe? And of course, the eternal argument that "we should have left the Nazis and Communists fight among themselves" forgetting that the anti-war crowd prior to 1941 were asking for non-involvement at the time when Nazis and Communists not only were not fighting, but were actually allies.
