A large contingent of the Fundamentalist "Pro-Lifers" line up wholeheartedly as a group with the War Party while economic policies undermining the majority of them are pushed to their fullest extent. There really is no "politics" anymore, if by politics we mean a reasoned and discursive interchange of ideas. What remains is animus, a righteous joinerism and in the accelerated idiocy of the day, where the quotidian obscures the larger events , we can expect a relentless degradation of the society. Politics has gone from responding to this mania to orchestrating it. What was once a social disfunction has become institutionalized and so now, anyone who desires a full debate and complete exploration of issues..... informed by both one's Faith and the Secular world.... must be deemed an enemy, "anti-social" and someone to be shunned or ignored. Abjuring reason, we have sanctioned a desire to remain willfully dumbfounded and have developed a vicarious agora to insure that Dumb is the new state of grace. Until we are afforded a complete exploration of the issue from both sides, and there are cogent ideas on both sides, we will continue to armor ourselves in this carapace of emotional stupidity.
