Message: Entry: Good and Evil in Lviv, part I Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/good_and_evil_in_lviv#21533 Post contents: @G.S. I appreciate your thoughtful comments, and you are correct. I did not respond to Mr. Rarey's fine article directly. I should have indicated that I found it edifying as a Catholic and that I look forward to more of the same. What bugs me though is that discussing the Soviet genocide of Christians without discussing "you know who" is like discussing Germany without mentioning the Nazis. As a devout Catholic, I obviously abhor the Nazis and what they stood for. The eugenics alone is enough for any Catholic to reject their movement. I guess you could say that resentment builds up when there is no justice. I never knew until a few years ago about the millions of Christians deliberately murdered in the USSR. Considering that from early childhood on, we (European Christians) are all made to feel like tacit murderers because of the Holocaust, yet a much more brutal and prolific genocide merits no mention in our public discourse. But you are right to gently scold me, I should have responded to the article. Nevertheless, until there is something even close to parity in discussing all the victims of WW II, it will lead to little outbursts like I had above. Thanks and God bless. Sent at: 2008 11 23
