Message: Entry: Good and Evil in Lviv, part I Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/good_and_evil_in_lviv#21694 Post contents: I am opposite from the author – Ukrainian from Lviv living in Chicago. The article is very truthful. You can see good and evil, beautiful and ugliness side by side in Lviv like in any other city on earth. Also, I have to agree with the author that some things, like an incident with a woman, may shock a person who had privilege to be born in more developed country like USA. It’s getting better but normally no one would interfere with drunks on the street. Just like in Chicago not a lot of people would stop to help a homeless person. I would not agree with the author that “don’t trust anyone” rule applies to many Ukrainian’s – quite opposite. Ukrainians are very open, friendly and hospitable, and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Try to stop by at any stranger’s home, let them know that you just want to have a personal experience with average Ukrainian family and I am sure you will be treated as their best friend. Thanks for writing about Lviv. Maria. Sent at: 2008 11 23
