I suggest that a separate link be created, for each topic, where the reader can go to find those posts that the site has determined to be "beyond the pale". That way, the authors can't say they are being silenced, but thoughtful readers will only have to sift through the mmuck when they want to. If nothing else, this provides a check against unwarranted banishments, as the community at large will have the chance to consider the merits of what's been thus segregated, if it wants to.
