Still their brand of anti-communism confused all shades of socialist, statist and 'liberal' opinion with the reds. In a sense, it is certainly fun and deservedly discomforting to bundle all these statists together in one big red pot. But red baiting, or maybe "red potting" is historically and politically inaccurate. Worse it may have backfired.
