Message: Entry: The German Disease Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/the_german_disease#2277 Post contents: The concept that Stalin's victims are less deserving of sympathy or historical restitution because of an empathy for the Nazism can be applied to those who fell prey to Hitler. Devotion to international communism was a characteristic of many of those attacked by the National Socialists in Germany. It was used to justify concentration camps. Fascism versus communism was Europe's divide in the run up to the second world war. This was just the sort of foreign entanglement that Washington advised against. Unfortunately we did not have the Virginian in the White House, we had Franklin Roosevelt and hundreds of thousands of our young died uselessly. The European quarrels were none of our business then. The fairy tales they use to sort it out today are none of our business today. The same holds true for the Middle East today. Sent at: 2008 05 16
