I don't know Guelzo's book. If Guelzo argues that Lincoln is influenced by Calvinist thought, fine. If Guelzo claims that Lincoln is a Calvinist, then he is just as wrong as Grant Havers is. To start with, a "real" Calvinist would be a Christian. Lincoln wasn't. That seems a basic point to me. I'm not claiming any special knowledge about "real Calvinism." I'm simply saying that it's confused and confusing to call people who don't even confess, for example, the contents of the Apostle's Creed "Calvinists." Sent at: 2008 07 08
