The sole dissenter to Oliver Wendell Holmes' deservedly infamous opinion in Buck v Bell was Pierce Butler, a conservative Catholic. Of course, Cardinal von Galen of Munster was a famous opponent of Nazi eugenics laws, which resulted in compulsory sterilization and murder.
