Is it me, or is it easier to understand Kirk if you look at him as a lay Presbyterian? Sure, I know the facets of Roman structure are there, but he's still animated by some pretty intense zeal---the kind that's usually not seen in adherents to the Church. One person in particular told me that before he converted, he always wore a large Celtic cross around his neck and occasionally donned a tartan. And I was told that he had a much greater struggle over getting married than with converting to Catholicism---almost as if he just threw down his Celtic cross and accepted Rome, and just kept on plugging away---zeal and all. I know... a minor point. But sometimes I think Kirkians get too caught up in theorizing about religious algorithms. Sent at: 2008 07 24
