It means someone who is for the status quo, someone who hates change, and in that sense the vast majority of people are conservative, especially those who style themselves "progressive". After all they want more of the state and we already have plenty in that department. "Liberal" on the other hand is the term to be proud of, except that its meaning has been devalued like the dollar. "Libertarian" is its second-best ersatz replacement. One description that still stands is "radical for capitalism". Thanks, Ayn. Sent at: 2008 07 24
