Fortunately for Canada, the American army was ill-prepared for invasion in 1812. It would have been a different story if the huge victorious Yankee army had invaded Canada (as most of Lincoln's cabinet desired) back in 1861. The Stars & Stripes would be flapping in the breeze from Victoria to Charlottetown today! Speaking of Obama/McCain: if Americans (at least on takimag) are agonizing over this choice, it's troubling that more foreigners are not. Most Canadians and Europeans seem to be hoping for an Obama victory with great enthusiasm, thus showing their ignorance of the fact that Democrats created the warfare/welfare state which led to the Iraq war.
