Actually, he was masochistic homosexual romantic who hated America. Hence Raimondo's love of him. Pre-Meji Era Japan was a feudal dictatorship. The atrocities of Imperial Japan speak for themselves. Japan is a seriously nationalist country. It is true that the culture is increasingly decadent. However false glorification of the past and a desire to impose a military dictatorship is a poor solution. PS. I am actually a fan of Mishima and have all of his books published in English.
