I'm also surprised to learn that Raimondo supports Barack Obama and considers him to be the "great Transcender." Exactly, what does Barack transcend? If we take Obama at his word then there is no question that he will be better on the war than McCain, and consequently better for the economy, because it's the war -- and the concern over another war -- that is causing high oil prices and irresponsible spending. As long as we stay in Iraq we won't be able to tackle in other major issue -- immigration, spending, taxes. Ending the war in Iraq should be everyone's number one priority. Even if Obama intends to get us out of Iraq, I doubt he has enough fortitude to go against the entire military industrial-complex, the Neocons, and those in his own party who will tell him that it is folly to leave Iraq unfinished. Raimondo's opposition to racialism seems partly tactical and partly aesthetic -- it prevents the right from making alliances with the anti-war left and it wreaks of old fashion racism.
