Nature's laws of variance are displayed as a distribution curve of attributes with the great mass on the body of the bell, and the much smaller number of extremes at the flanges for insurance against major environmental change. If the distribution was otherwise, and the bell was inverted, it would mean extinction of species in one generation. Therefore, the burden of proof lies not with tradition but with change.
