The so-called “mainstream” media have played a key role in selecting the two major party candidates this year. In particular, the management of the news coverage of Obama has been a text book example of how the message the media puts out can be controlled in a virtually totalitarian manner. Having experienced the power of selecting Obama as the nominee, the MSM isn’t likely to back off now. Unlike in the past, it appears unlikely that the MSM will “tear down” their own creation, in this case Obama as the messiah. And this may also be what the future looks like, namely a super powerful but illegitimate elite dictating through means both soft (manipulation and disinformation) and hard (speech code/hate laws, destruction of the economy for the working classes) to an increasingly ignorant and uninformed “public.” BTW, I have enjoyed Mr. Maxwell’s movies and recommend them to all.
