The notion of struggle between bad elitists and good populists is on the downswing now. It will be a long time before I get those old Pavlovian reactions against the "white-wine-and-brie" set again. Doubtless the liberal snobs are still awful, but being an unpretentious guy from a from a small town in Texas isn't going to win you many votes in the rest of the country just now.
