I'm a "failed pianist" (i.e., a pianist who plays organ) myself -- although I did take a few lessons in organ playing before my youngest son was born and my teacher moved away. I'm largely self-taught, thus have not played the "biggies" of the repertoire. I really enjoyed your reminiscences about the various chorqal peccadilloes (that I've seen myself, exc. for the rougue tenor) -- great to see them written about with such humour! Our choir has two directors of the hail-fellow-well-met school (both female), and it's true what you say about being at the back of the church, though our parish church is small.
