If every group is equally able, and one group consistently achieves less in some arena than another group, then there must be some social explanation for it: institutional racism, slavery, stereotype threat, whatever. And it's the duty of the predominant group -- that's us -- to rectify the injustice. As Michael Levin pointed out in <i>Why Race Matters</i>, appeals to individual rights, colorblind societies, etc. are weak and unconvincing, <i>if</i> whites are (were) responsible for group inequality. Also, your nightmare scenarios seem a bit far-fetched in a time when the use of the word "nigger" is guaranteed to get you fired from your job and ostracized from polite society.
