I don't know what the big deal is though - these things happen in the world and history all the time: people rise and fall and the ethnic composition of areas changes. I can imagine an early 19th century version of this article written by Native Americans complaining how "Apacheria" and "Comancheria" in the Southwest was being overrun by the alien vermin of Europe - from the South (Mexican/Spanish) and East (Anglo-American). It is mildly amusing to see Americans discomfited by trends that they have either done to others such as Native Americans and indeed Mexicans and supported in other continents - from the creation of Israel to Kosovo and other places.
