Mexico, in its fanatical anti-Americanism, was the first country to recognize Castro and denied Cuban poiltical refugees asylum. Whatever else has become of Miami since that time, I don't think the supernaturally corrupt Mexican gov. will find much traction with people whose ancestors were Europeans one way or another. The whole "La Raza" strategy is predicated on a distinction b/t white Europeans and little brown peasant people who hark back to Aztec, Mayan and Inca gods. The Mexicans are overreaching. As a start - and only a start - the term "Hispanic" needs to be abolished and any white person who comes from a Spanish-speaking background should be encourgaed, and welcomed, to identify as white. Bring Spain back into the fold and drive a wedge b/t what the radicals want us to consider a monolithic group. Per the current classification, Danny Devito and Antonin Scalia are "white" but Cameron Diaz is "Hispanic?" Nonsense.
