Message: Entry: Riyadh on the Potomac Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/riyadh_on_the_potomac#322 Post contents: Mr Richert writes : “They assume . . . by the conversion of Muslim immigrants to the very American religion of Mammon.” It’s an assumption which has proven true so far with all others. For instance, the Mexican immigrants have certainly proved themselves to be adept at taking on the American religion as their own. Their Aztec demon gods they like to display may look a bit different than the Yankee variety, but small matter. But whether the assumption be true or not, given the carnal nature of the Islamic religion which makes a virtue of acquiescence to the lusts of fallen nature, (Summa Contra Gentiles,B1,C16,A4.), I don’t see where conversion to the American religion of mammon comes into play. Islam is grounded in principle in the same religion. So I don’t see why in that regard they shouldn’t likewise blend in well soon enough. If the concern is their cultural baggage being foisted on Americans, that’s a different matter. Summa Contra Gentiles, Book 1, Chapter 16, Art. 4. http://tinyurl.com/33wqtb Sent at: 2008 09 05
