In a spasm of American-style paganism, Nixon declared the Moon Landing of 1969 to have been "the most important event since the Creation", and as one wag said, Nixon had thereby "promptly put Jesus Christ in his place." But more seriously, the ridiculous motto of the X-Files, "the truth is out there", is what ought to go into the dustbin of history.
